As the title implies, we got our first freeze last night. 25 degrees F. Killed the volunteer pumpkin vine in my front flower bed.
Had a string of good days. Talked with relatives and friends mainly over texts and messaging. Worked the Y pool as a lifeguard and had mainly pleasant interactions there.
Receive regular letters from my sister who is in a rehab program for eating disorders and whatever addictions are associated with them. It's tough on her. She is insecure and constantly seeks validation. Anxiety dogs her constantly for a variety of reasons which vary by the day.
My big anxiety source is wanting to ask a woman out, but not screwing up the courage to do so. I broke up with one woman, got dumped by another last spring, and have been single and out of the dating scene since, mainly self imposed, with the exception for a brief flirtation with a work colleague. That ended in rejection. I fear rejection. It is a tough thing, being rejected. Is it worth trying to start another relationship, knowing rejection is a real possibility? I can't really answer that. I don't know right now.
My current bike is 12 years old and rusted from 12 winters outdoors being ridden year round. I just replaced the Leaf earlier this month with another EV which gets better mileage, has more space, a more universal plug type, and a significantly faster charge rate over the road. It emptied my bank account, but I didn't have to assume any debt. Will try for a new bike before the first snow, hopefully.
Have achieved a degree of inner peace biking to and from work. The middle finger still goes up, but less frequently. It was a good long warm season with lots of opportunities to ride. It added more joy to my life than grief. I'll keep doing it!
